West Iceland Regional Office
The West Iceland Regional Office combines the tasks of two organizations:
- The Federation of Municipalities in West-Iceland (FMW)
- West-Iceland Regional Development (WRD)
FMW guards the general interests of municipalities in West Iceland, especially regarding labour market, finance, education, planning and social matters. The organization is also linking the municipalities in West Iceland and the Federation of municipalities in Iceland.
WRD is the consulting and development agency of West Iceland. The role of WRD is to assist individuals, companies and municipalities in job creation and innovation. This can be done by:
- problem solving and analysis
- assistance in providing funds for start-ups and innovation projects
- business planning
- marketing consulting
- analysis of regional development
- active participation in rural development
- seminars and conferences
The last three years, WRD has coordinated efforts in West Iceland Growth Agreement – a initiative aimed at supporting growth sectors in the region.
